Cabinet Making and Wood Working

The Cabinetmaking and Wood Products Pathway provides learning opportunities for students interested in preparing for careers in cabinet construction, millwork, and woodproducts and covers the construction of both custom and production products.

This pathway teaches students:

  • Introductory and advanced woodworking skills
  • Safe use of hand and power tools
  • Furniture making, millwork, wood finishing, and joinery
  • Operate computer controlled lasers and routers

Mechanical Construction

The Mechanical Construction Pathway provides learning opportunities for students interested in preparing for careers in mechanical construction (plumbing;  electrical, heating, ventilation, air conditioning [HVAC]). The pathway includes instruction in the manner in which these systems work in structures.

This Pathway teaches students

  • Fabrication and Manufacturing
  • Use of pneumatic, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Design and build projects on CNC machines
  • Welding, plasma, torch cutting, and foundry work

Residential and Commercial Construction

The Academy’s Residential and Commercial Construction career path is designed to prepare students for careers in architecture, engineering, construction and project management. Many of our students are preparing to pursue a career in the Building Trades and Construction Industry.

This pathway teaches students:

  • Introductory and advanced hand drawing
  • Construction of catapults, maze machines, syringe robots, and scaled architectural models
  • AutoCad, 3-D Animation, CNC machining
  • Architectural history, structural engineering and design

Construction Technology

The Construction Technology Pathway introduces students to the carpentry, concrete, and masonry trades. Students in this pathway will pursue a career in the Building Trades and Construction Industry.

This Pathway teaches students:

  • Safe use of hand and power tools
  • Introductory and advanced rough and finish carpentry
  • Framing, form work, roofing, concrete finishing, and masonry
  • Building dog houses, sheds, and residential wood framed homes
